ten of spades

Have you been wondering how on earth I will deal with 10 if I was already complaining about 9? Well, I had this bird sketch burning a hole in my sketchbook, so I decided to add ten little seeds and call it a spade. Don't call it rain. They are SEEDS!

nine of spades

Oh the 9 of spades has been a real pain! So hard to find a good group of nine to fit on the face of a playing card....so nine more heads are coming your way! Maybe it's the idea or wisdom in the suit of spades that keeps bringing me back to heads, but I tell you I really started off thinking about the 'winter' aspect of spades....these heads are blanketed by the dark night of winter I think! Makes me a bit sleepy too....

P.S. Happy birthday dad :)

seven of spades

Where I grew up, there was a hill behind our house and it was often covered with milkweed. We used to collect them as treasure, hide them, collect them, and dissect them! I remember so clearly each fall the joy of opening the milkweed pods and pulling out their silky interiors, letting it float away in the wind....

six of spades

Spades are often written about as cards of wisdom and acceptance, so I thought a good symbol for our six would be a set of carefully balanced chairs. I draw these chairs a lot, something about the fragility of the stack and the commonness of a sturdy chair calms me.

Well, I've fallen a bit behind again…and I'm determined to catch up, but with ICON8 just ending and Indigo NY on the horizon it's going to be tough! Here is the first of the spades:

Spades tend to stand for winter, wisdom, old age, transformation, and water….let's see where that takes us! (thanks for following along!)
