Keeping up appearances

It’s all in the details when you are isolated. The little things start to mean so much. Here are some ideas for focusing on the details:

• try to get everyone in your house to wear matching outfits!

• set a fancy table for lunch or dinner

• practice organization (this is a great one for kids!)

TOY ORGANIZING

I don’t mean putting away all the toys neatly, but rather taking them all out and lining them up in interesting ways. The image above is from our residency at RAIR Philly a couple of years ago, when we found loads of little toys.

We got so into organizing and arranging them, it was hard to stop. Try it. Extra fun for kids to see their parents get a little obsessive.

MAKE A POP UP

If toy arranging feels too easy for you, try making pop up cards or simple pop up books….here’s a sample page from a book I found at the library, and you can read about the different types from this Smithsonian site or get some basics on this youtube video.

Okay, that’s seems like a pretty good list for today….check back for a few more ideas tomorrow!
